Building & Grounds (Tuesday Group)

With inspiration from St. Joseph, the mission of the Tuesday Group is to provide good fellowship among all those who participate to maintain the church facilities and outside surroundings in a workmanlike manner, to ensure the safety of the parishioners, preserve the integrity of the structure, and to be certain the entire complex remains aesthetically appealing. From time to time, the Tuesday Group engages in internal and external construction and landscaping projects within their capability.

The group is made up of parishioners who provide time and talent to maintain the church building and grounds. They volunteer at church each Tuesday from 8:00 am to 11:00 am. They do routine lawn and landscaping, such as mowing, trimming, blowing, etc. They also do maintenance and repair activities for the buildings on the property to include electrical, plumbing, painting, etc. The Tuesday Group arranges the tables and chairs in Morrow Hall for parish activities. They also operate a repair shop that manages the group’s lawn care equipment as well as repair equipment donated to Joyous Junque.

Capital Improvements

They maintain a master plan for the property updating as necessary and oversees the execution of capital projects.

Cemetery

By direction of the Roman Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Richmond, full authority for the management, operation, and maintenance of the cemetery resides in a committee appointed by the parish of Resurrection and designated as the Cemetery Committee.

The Cemetery Committee of Resurrection maintains the cemetery and ministers to those making burial plans. If you would like more information about our cemetery, please contact the parish office (540) 297-5530.

Communications

Communications publishes the weekly parish bulletin and distributes it through Flocknote. They are also responsible for the weekly announcements. Individuals or ministries who would like a Ministry Minute or describe their Ministry in Action must schedule their requests through the parish office and submit their statements for approval prior to their presentation. Communications updates the church’s calendar and schedules meeting spaces.

Facility Use

Resurrection Catholic Church and its related facilities are the home for our parish and a place for worship, education, and fellowship. We welcome and encourage use of our facilities, particularly by organizations and groups that serve and benefit the community surrounding Smith Mountain Lake. The Church is committed to Christian hospitality, but it reserves the right to deny usage for groups or events deemed inappropriate for a Catholic Church. To reserve a space, please check the church calendar for availability and receive permission from the parish office. An Application for Use of Church Facilities form may be obtained in the Commons or by contacting the parish office at (540) 297-5530.

Office Volunteers

The office volunteers provide a special ministry that benefits the entire parish community as well as the office staff. The focal point of the ministry is hospitality. Volunteers have the flexibility to specify the day/days they are available each month. To become an office volunteer please contact Barb Finch, Office Volunteer Coordinator, at 721-2610.
