Faith Formation & Evangelization
The mission of the Faith Formation and Evangelization Ministry is to address the spiritual needs of all children, youth, and adults within our parish by providing opportunities for every person to encounter and deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer, scripture and catechetical studies of our rich Catholic traditions, and service to our community.
The Faith Formation and Evangelization Ministry strives to offer ways to address the spiritual needs of the parish by offering retreats, religious guest speakers, the annual recognition of St. Catherine Labouré, and various reading materials distributed throughout the year.
Faith Formation and Evangelization encourages all parishioners to seek the Lord as they explore all areas of Catholic life. Parish participation is enhanced through the collaboration of the following committees: Adult Faith Formation, Sacramental Preparation, Christian Initiation for Adults, Welcome Committee, and Youth Faith Formation.
The chairperson of the Faith Formation and Evangelization Ministry is Karen McCloskey.
Adult Faith Formation
Adult Faith Formation offers spiritual enrichment, retreats, Bible studies, speakers, book studies, and prayer services.
Sacramental Preparation
Sacramental preparation is provided to those who would like to receive the sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, Holy Communion, Confirmation, and/or Holy Matrimony at Resurrection. For additional information about the sacraments, contact the Coordinator of Faith Formation.
Christian Initiation for Adults
Entrance into the Church is governed by the Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA). This is the rite for those who want to become fully initiated into the Catholic Church. Programs are available for unbaptized adults as well as for baptized adults or children who desire to complete the Sacraments of Initiation. If interested in becoming Catholic or completing your initiation, contact the Coordinator of Faith Formation at (540) 297-5530.
Welcome Committee
The Welcome Committee reaches out to prospective and new parishioners to answer questions regarding Resurrection Catholic Church’s missions and activities. The committee provides information packets to new members. They also follow up with newly registered members to provide additional information and answer their questions. Finally, the Welcome Committee sets up a “Welcome Reception” in order to meet the pastor and tour the church.
Youth Faith Formation
Christian Formation provides children from Pre-K through high school with opportunities to know, love, and serve God and His son, Jesus. Through the religious education programs offered at Resurrection, children learn about the Catholic faith and how to live it. Please visit the Faith Formation page for more information. If interested in enrolling your child or becoming a catechist, please contact the Coordinator of Faith Formation at (540) 297-5530.
