RESURRECTION CATHOLIC CHURCH HAITI MISSION STATEMENT

Aware of the Gospel mandate of a preferential option for the poor, the members of Resurrection Catholic Church, in 1989, entered into a twinning relationship of solidarity, care and concern with the girls and staff at the Foyer des Filles de Dieu orphanage in Port-au-Prince.

This twinning relationship was also in response to Bishop Walter Sullivan’s proclamation of Haiti as the missionary outreach partner of the Diocese of Richmond. The proclamation is a call to global solidarity for all parishes and each of us to be continually aware of communities beyond our immediate geographic, cultural, and economic borders.

In faith, we pledge to our extended family in Haiti a celebration of what we hold in common and an appreciation of the enrichment that comes from a mutual exploration of differences.

In communion, we pledge to share our abundance, to remember each other in prayer, and to work for justice for all the people of Haiti.
