Tuesday Group – a lot of fellowship and fun and some work around the church

The fall and winter months have been busy for the "Tuesday Group," a gathering of industrious parishioners who come together most Tuesdays of the year to take care of the little and not so little jobs that must be done to keep the church looking good and running smoothly.

One big project that was accomplished, in preparation of cutting down the bank along Rt. 122, was taking down the church sign which served us well for a number of years. Once the bank was cut back, two new signs were erected - a new permanent sign for RCC and a secondary sign for use to announce special events. Landscaping around both signs is now being worked on to improve their esthetics.

From time to time, requests come in from people in need of help. Most requests center around home repairs such as fixing leaky roofs, replacing floors, etc. The Tuesday Group was able to help with five such projects and the recipients were most grateful.

Another major project was to help Lake Christian Ministries dismantle their shelves so they could concrete their warehouse floor. Four men spent two days on the project and it turned out great. They encourage everyone to stop by and take a look.

In addition, running water was installed this spring at the garage and the Labyrinth. Equipment can now be cleaned and the shrubbery watered and the water lines will soon be connected from Bedford County which is much needed to have a consistent and quality water source.

In addition, a parishioner has donated funds to redo the land-scaping around the Labyrinth and that project is about half done. It will result in an even more desirable place to reflect.

Bob Horan was able to locate some very nice literature racks for a nominal price and they have been installed around the Commons Area, thus eliminating the need for display tables.

These are just a few of the improvements that have been made along with the normal upkeep of painting, mowing, fertilizing, mulching, light fixture replacement, security light installation, Morrow Hall setup for various events, etc. This group has saved the parish several thousands of dollars.

The Tuesday Group is a lot of fellowship and fun and some work. Come join us if the urge is there!
