Christmas in April of Bedford Co. has been repairing and rehabilitating homes for those in need since 1992. On April 24, 18 homes were worked on by approximately 400 volunteers with the total cost of materials coming close to $20,000. These funds consist entirely of donations made by individuals, churches and businesses. Every dollar is quadrupled due to the use of volunteers and discounted and/or donated materials.

Members of RCC helped this worthy cause by fixing a Montvale home that was built in 1902. The owner, a widower in her mid-seventies, still uses a wood stove and wood-burning range, and until recently, had no inside bath facilities.

Parish members George Just, Jerry Kelly, Gene McCullough, Jim O'Neill, Jim & Susan Perozek, Clint Shay, Tom Theriot, and Jim Urban painted the exterior of the home, rebuilt the porch floor, repaired siding, patched the roof, replaced facia board, and built a ramp so that she can pull her wagon of firewood right to her front door.
