JustFaith: A Once-in-a-Lifetime Opportunity

JustFaith is a small group program of spiritual growth and challenge sponsored nationally by Catholic Charities USA. It is a justice education program that provides an opportunity for parishioners to study and be formed by the justice tradition articulated by the Scriptures, the Church’s historical witness, and Catholic social teaching.

Through involvement in the JustFaith process and community, the participants develop a passion and thirst for justice and express this passion in concrete acts.

JustFaith classes meet weekly for nine months, employing books, videos, lectures, discussion, prayer, retreats, and hands-on experiences.

As with anything this rewarding, the time commitment is substantial. There are 30 weekly meetings of 2 hours (with a few weeks off). The reading takes 2-4 hours per week. Plus there are two overnight weekend retreats and several hands-on experiences that engage participants with persons living in poverty. This is intense and transform-ative!

At Resurrection, we hope to start a JustFaith process and form a JustFaith community of 7-12 individuals, probably beginning this fall. We would like to identify the group and begin planning this spring. Chris Barrett, Eric Mosley, and Jan Mosley are the first three to plan on participating.

Interested? There will be brief exploratory sessions after the 5 p.m. Mass on Saturday, May 15, and after the 4 p.m. Mass on Sunday, May 16.

In addition, after 5 p.m. Mass on Saturday, May 22, and after 4 p.m. Mass on Sunday, May 23.
